Thank you so much for joining me. and Saturday April Sixteen, two thousand and twenty two, we are in between Good Friday and resurrection Sunday. So I want to do want to thank you for sitting in on this. This will be a podcast specifically answering the question why Easter? What's the big deal about Easter? Why did it have to happen? So thank you for listening in. If you want to get hold of me, the website against Christian talk dot life. Christian talk dot life, I'll I try to be as literal as I can be and I rely on scriptures pretty much a hundred percent. And the fact is at Easter is actually from a pagan name of Estar. Fertility got us the bunny, rabbits and all that. But I don't I don't think. I don't think that something to get hung up on like some people do. To me it's resurrection Sunday. Resurrection Sunday is the fulfillment of prophecies that Jesus after descending after his death on the cross, in the burial and he said in three days later I will raise myself up, and he descended a minister to the saints that were waiting because remember, like in Luke Abraham's bosom, people could not go to God's presence, could not go to glory without going up with Jesus. So he was ministering to them and I think he was confirming to the damned why they were damned. And then on the third day he rose himself up in fulfillment of the scriptures. But before we get to the resurrection, there's hundreds of prophecies, hundreds of events that God told in advance would happen. God says in his word that I will show myself to be the only one true God by telling the future in advance. Nobody can do that, unless their God, because they are the ones that create history. So, but goober some of the scriptures, for example, in Isaiah fifty three, four through five, concerning the Messiah, it says, surely he took up our pain and before and bore our suffering. Yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was healed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. This is hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years before the Romans started crucifying people. Yeah, Ye, have Isaiah Prophet writing this down, cause surely he took stricken by God, pierced, crushed. This is a messiah that he's writing about, as it was inspired by the Holy Spirit, as one of the author is one of the authors of the Bible. Verse, Peter to Twenty Four, said that Jesus himself bore our sins in his body on the cross so that we might Dieto sinds and live for righteousness. or by his wounds we are healed, which is what is said in Isaiah. Fifty three, four through five. The punishment that brought us peace was upon the Messiah, the Christ, and by his wounds we are healed. But there was a lot of other verses about who would be the Messiah, who would be the one that they should be looking for. Here's some of them. Genesis Three fifteen said that the Messiah would have to be born of a woman, a virgin. So born of a woman, genesis three hundred and fifteen fulfilled Galatians for for Matthew One hundred and twenty, born in Bethlehem. Mike Ave to the old testament scripture fulfilled, and Lo in Matthew two one and Luke two four through six. The Messiah would be born of a virgin. Isaiah fourteen fulfilled. Matthew One and twenty two through twenty three. Luke one twenty sixty thirty one. The Messiah would have to come through the line of Abraham. Genesis twelve three. Matthew One, one hundred and twenty ninety five would be a descendant of Isaac, genesis seventeen nineteen. Luke thirty four would be the sendant of Jacob. Number Seventeen. Matthew want two would come from the tribe of Judah, genesis for ten. Luke three and thirty three, who Hebrew fourteen, would be air to David's throne. Isaiah seven, Romans one three. Another's messiahs throne would be anointed an eternal Daniel to twenty four, Luke one hundred and thirty three. Another's Messiah would be called the Manuel. Isaiah Fourteen, Matthew One hundred and twenty three. Messiah would spend a season in Egypt. Jose one, Matthew two, fourteen through fifteen. A massacre of children would happen at the Messiah's birthplace. Jeremiah thirteen or than one hundred fifteen. Matthew to sixteen through eighteen. A MESSENGER would prepare the way for the Messiah. Isaiah forty three through five. Luke three through six. The Messiah would be rejected by his own people. I'm just going to go down more of these quickly. Messiah would be a prophet. Messiah would be presp preceded by Elijah, which is John The baptist. Messiah would be declared a son of God. Messiah would be called a Nazarie. Messiah would be bring light to Galilee with speak in parables, was sent to heal the broken hearted. Would come in the order of Mekiss a deck, would be called King and would be praised by little children. would be betrayed the price of money. How much money would be would be offered? Would be paid to turn him over. He'd be falsely accused, signent before his accusers, spat on and struck. would be hated with our cause, would be crucified with criminals. would be given Benegar to drink. His hands and feet would be pierced, to be mocked and ridiculed. Soldiers would gamble for his garments. Besides, bones would not be broken. Would be falsely he would be forsaken by God, would pray to would pray for his enemies. Soldiers would pierce his side. He'd be buried with the rich. She would resurrect from the dead. He would send to heaven and be seated at the right hand of God and would be a sacrifice per sin. Those are just forty four of the prophecies concerning who the Messiah would be, and that Jesus fulfilled them. Now, Deuteronomy twe three thirteen says that anyone who is hung on a tree or cross would be considered cursed. So the fact is, when Jesus came and he was fulfilling all these prophecies and Isaiah and I through genesis, all over the Old Testament, Jeremiah, psalms, proverbs, he comes on the scene and some of the Jews said, it's here, he's here. Remember he when Jesus was talking to the woman at the well, and she said, when the Messiah comes and he says I am he and she believed, and so did people in Sumria. But there were there were Jews and, as some gentiles that believed that Jesus was the fulfillment of all of these prophecies, which is why when he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, they were putting palms before him, saying Josanna, Hosanna, save us. It's time good the Messias here to overthrow Rome and to establish the Kingdom. Because in Isaiah fourteen, like we said, it said that the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold a virgins going to conceive, embarrass on whate the I mean, that doesn't happen. And then, wait a minute, he's his name's called Emmanuel, God with us. That was the Old Testament. Prophecy. Well, Matthew Twenty A, Matthew won twenty two through twenty three. All of this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the Prophet behold, the Virgin shall conceive embarrasson and they shall call his Namy Emmanuel, which means God. With US quote in Luke One hundred twenty six, in the sixth month, the Angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin patrolled to a man whose name is Joseph of the House of David. He had to come from David's lineage and the Virgin's name was Mary, and he came to her and said greetings, so favorite one, the Lord is with you. But she was greatly troubled at the saying and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. In the Angel said, you not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God, and behold, you will conceive in your warm embarrasson and you shall call his name Jesus. The Messiah had to come from the tribe of Judah, looks at fourteen, like we spoke about, for it's evident that our Lord was a descendant from Judah in connection with the tribe. Moses said about the priest becoming the order MAKIZEDEC. Hebrews five, five, few six. So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest. Buzz was appointed by him, who said to him you are my son Today, I have begotten you, and he said also in another place, you are our priests. Wherever in the order of Mekizedec the Messiah would resurrect from the dead. So now we're going to get to the actual resurrection here in a second. For you will not abandon my soul to shield. This is Jesus speaking in the Old Testament, Psalm one, sixteen, ten, for you will not abandon my soul to show or let the holy one see corruptions. Fifteen. But God will ransom my soul from the power of shoal and he will receive me. Say Lah. Now this is an act two to twenty two through thirty two, when Peter, what filled with the Holy Spirit, said, men of Israel, this is after pentecost. Hear the words, these words. This is member, this is timid Peter, who ran and head and said, I swear I do not know this man. Well, now, this is the this is the anointed Peter, along with the apostles. But men of Israel, here these words. Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God, with Mighty Works and wonders and signs that God death through him in your midst. As you yourselves know, this Jesus delivered up according to the definite plan and fore knowledge of God. You crucified talking to the Jews and you killed by the hands of LAWSS men. God raised him up, losing the pains of death because it was not possible for him to be held by it. Where David said concerning him, I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. Therefore, my heart was glad in my tongue rejoiced, my flesh all showed dwell, and hope will dwell in hope, for you will not abandon my soul to hades and let the holy one see corruption, for you have been made known to me the paths of life. You will make me full of gladness, with your presence be continued. Brothers, I say to you with confidence about the Patriarch David, that he both item was buried in his tomb, as with us today. Being therefore a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would send one of his descendants on his throne, he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not going to be abandoned the Hades, nor did his flesh sea corruption. This Jesus God raised up and we are all witnesses of it now. In revelation nineteen Jesus he came as the is a servant, the dying servant being obedient to death on a cross. Revelation nineteen, he comes back and he takes the Earth as the conquering king. Why why all this cross stuff? Why did? Why did on Good Friday? Why across? Because God's system of justice was based off of the shedding of blood. That there was the law was established and if you violated the law then you would die. So in Hebrews Twenty and twenty one through twenty three, the writer talking about Jesus and the and the shedding of blood, the Cross said and in the same way he sprinkled both the Tabernacle on the vessels of the ministry with the blood. That was the priest Aaron, and according to the law, one may also say all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding a blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. Therefore, was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these, which was the cross. So the reason why the cross was necessary, the reason why the Cross was established, it was predetermined with God's foreknowledge. To a matter of fact, Hebrews twelve two says this. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and the protector of our fight or our faith, who, for the joy set before him, endured the cross, scorning it, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such hostility for sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Jesus, Jesus who said the joy, who, for the joy set before him, he went to the cross joyfully. But the cross was unfathomable for our minds, because who crushed Jesus? Wasn't the Romans and it wasn't the Jews, Isaiah, fifty three ten. Yet it was the Lord's will, was God, the father's will, to crush him, to crush Jesus and to cause him to suffer. And when his soul is made a guilt offering, he will see his offspring. You will prolong his days and the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in his hand. So Jesus went to the cross joyfully and the father crushed him. Well, remember, Isaiah, or a Romans Bibate, says, God demonstrated his love and for us in this then, while we were sinners, sinning, Christ die for us now will we were good when, as we were sinning Jesus before time, joyfully said of a plan in motion where he would come take on Flash, and there is hundreds of prophecies predicting it. So they should have saw him coming. The the elect Jewish people should have known, because here's a messiah fulfilling everything. But then their eyes were blinded because of the disobedience and their their sin. So the Messiah who was predicted, fulfilled everything, came died very rose. And still today there's Jewish people who will not accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah who has conquered death. On Sunday, resurrection Sunday. What happens, and I'll read the verses here in a little bit, what happens is, as it says, like in Isaiah six, well, and look to eleven. It said the Messiah would come out of today in the town of David, Bethlehem, were Rachel was borne by a saviors born to you, right, but then it says it says that I'd Sayah, nine, six, for unto us a child is born, for unto us a son has given. The governments will be upon a shoulders. He will be called wonderful counselor myd God, everlasting father, prince a piece. That is who died on the cross. Was the wonderful counselor the mighty God, the ever asking father, the Prince Peace? What can you do with the Homelan from PENNYMAC? Slam dunk that split level to set sweeter revel in that ranch. So again, you want to text my initials, ejt on your phone to seven four one two one. Okay, here we go, Luke. Twenty four one to twelve. Let's paint the picture real quick. So it's dark. The disciples, the apostles, everyone's even though they walked with Jesus for three years. He told them exactly what would happen, that he would raise himself up after three days. Even so, they didn't believe. They watch them walk on water, they watched him he'll blind people, raise people from the dead. Even though the prophecies were there and he fulfilled them all and he walked with them, they still doubted. So Luke Twenty four, verse one, on the first day of the week, Sunday morning, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they prepared and they went to the tomb. Now this is interesting too, because how did they plan on getting in the tomb? The stone had been rolled and there was no way they were going to get in. But they found the stone rolled away and when they entered they didn't find the body of Jesus. So the brains going nuts at this point. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two minute clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them, and I think this is a try to really grasp this in their fright too, too, glowing, massive angels. What did they do? Member Ten Commandments, just only I am the Lord, your God. You should have another. Never have another God. You should not make any grave and images or bow down to them. These angels were so awesome and these are created beings by God through Jesus Christ. In their fright, the woman bowed their down, bowed down with their faces to the ground. But the men said, why do you look for the living among the dead? In other words, what are you doing? What are you doing? He said he would raise himself from the dead. Why are you looking for a dead body here? Number six, he's not here. He has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee, that the son of man must be delivered over to the hands of Sinners, be crucified and on the third day raised again. Then they remembered his words. If you're doubting now yourself, or if you're going to a tough time, Jesus has risen. Jesus is not on a church building somewhere, he's not on a rosary, he's not on a cross, he's risen. So they remembered these words and when they came back from the tomb, they went running back to the eleven remaining apostle, since Judas had hung himself. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna and married, the mother of James and the others, with them who told us to the apostles, but they did not believe the woman be because the words seemed to them like nonsense. Do you have any family members? Did you used to say it's nonsense. Doesn't? Doesn't the Bible say that the Cross is bullishness to those who are perishing? Islam actually says in the crown, if you believe Jesus Writ Actually was crucified, died and buried and rose from the dead, that you're an apostate. So these these elevenum remaining apostles who walked with Jesus, watching them walk on water, thought he was a ghost. He calmed the seas and the in the ocean and the way in the winds. He did all these miracles, but they said was nonsense. Peter, though he got he goes. You know what? What if it says he got up and he ran to the tomb in John and says John beat him to the tomb, but Peter and John took off and bending over, it says it he peter saw the strips of linen lying by themselves and he went away wandering to himself what had happened. Well, let's see. What did Jesus say? Oh, he rose himself from the dead. So what's the problem? Well, Jesus ends up appearing to marry and says tell everybody to go meet up, and they got them all together and the resurrection is complete. Then Jesus meets with the disciples. At one time, over five hundred saw him, eyewitnesses, no doubt about it. And then we get to Matthew Twenty eight. He ends up giving the Great Commission and he goes to glory, sitting at the right hand of father, and when he returns again, then he will come and he will judge the world. We have a risen Lord, we have the God man who died for us and we have eternal life. Said forty four prophecies alone were F fulfilled. I went over with you quickly. Jesus was the Messiah, Jesus came as predicted, and Jesus is coming again. This is this is what Resurrection Sundays all about. It's not about bunny rabbits. It's about, for example, when Jesus was when the Pharisees were getting the crowd to ask for Jesus to be crucified, Jesus wouldn't defend himself and pilot said don't you realize that I can have you killed or set free? He said, you can't do anything unless you were given the power to do it. Man Doesn't have a say in this. God is sovereign and God was sovereign through this whole event. Look and look twenty three, forty four. It said it was about noon and the this was the moment when the darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the stun the sun had stopped shining in the curtain, this very thick, I've heard as much as I three feet or six feet thick, torn in two and Jesus said, bother, into your hands, I commit my spirit. He gave up his own life. He was not killed, he laid his life down in the centurion their praise God, saying surely this was a righteous man. Resurrection. Sunday is the opportunity for us to make much of the cross, because Jesus said, if you lift him up to the world, for if we keep Jesus lifted up, he'll draw him in unto himself. We are voluntary slaves in love with our Lord. We are the do loss. We are slaves, do looy, we are slaves for Christ's sake. That's we don't have any saying things. We would do the will of our master joyfully. So when you go through Sunday or following, when you're listening to this, remember Jesus before time and the father and the Holy Spirit laid out this plan, with sin being entering in through Adam and eve and the whole plan. But from the beginning Jesus had already determined that he would joyfully go to the cross as a human being, all hundred percent God, a hundred percent man, and then he would redeem his church, he will redeem the elect and that the father crushed him at that moment to satisfy his sin requirement for justice. And now we, because of this propitiation, as constant blood covering over us, because we are in Christ, we can walk boldly around in a world that is universally almost I'm not going to say a hundred percent, obviously, because there's some of us left, but most of the world, regardless of what you hear, are destined for Hell. Religion doesn't get you to heaven. Christ atonement on the Cross and our faith in his finished work then puts our names written in the book of life. Matthew Twenty one, says many. On Judgment Day will say Lord, Lord, then we cast out demons. Prophesy in Jesus, says I. I don't know who you are, away from me, you doers of iniquity. So rejoice in the cross, praise Jesus, praise the father, that the plan was in place, that the prophecies were fulfilled and that Jesus has risen from the Daddy's our great high priest in the order in Mkizz a Daki sits at the right hand of the father and have an interesting for us in the Holy Spirit is in us and we have everything necessary for godly living in the word of God. So Hebrews War twelve says that that word of God written over one thou five hundred years by forty different spired authors on three different continents. How is it possible? God wrote the words and it's alive and powerful and it's a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart and it guides us on the straight path so we don't turn to the right or to the left. So I pray that you have a blessed resurrection Sunday. I pray that this was a blessing to you, and just keep in mind that God is sovereign, everything is laid out, everything is on schedule, and God will never leave us nor forsake us. You can never lose your salvation once you are in God's hand, and that Jesus is calling us to obey, but obey to a God that loves us and that and that he is using us for his glory. And then one day, when we die and we go to enter in to his presence, he will say enter in, good and faithful servants. To the rest that's been set aside for you, grab on to that peace today. Ignore any negative thoughts, because anything that's condemning, anything that says he's Eric is he's lying to you. A Holy God can't wipe out your sin just because he's is. The son of God dies on a cross. You're still guilty. God Still Mat at you. Ain't God loves you. God chooses for those who are redeemed, for those who put their faith in Jesus Christ. He he chooses to forget all of our sins, to make him as as so far as the East is from the West, and that the this this blood covering, the setonement of being in Christ allows us to walk boldly with assurance, and we are lights in darkness in a world that's a that is at war with God, because the father of this world is Lucifer. But the cross conquered all evil and when Jesus reclaims the world, all of that will be bundled up, all of the sin, the death, the sorrow, the center everything will be think of as put in a big bag and then cast eventually into outer darkness, never to be seen again, where there's weeping and gnashing at teeth. Hell is real. The Cross delivers people from Hell. People love their sin. If they would answer the call from God and they would repent and they would put their faith in Christ and they would be born from above, they can escape the judgment. So pray for your family members, pray for everyone, that God would call them, that they could come to faith and that their heart would be open to it. That all of this is what Resurrection Sundays about. It's not about Easter Bunnies, it's not about doing a real just thing, it's not about getting people to come to church twice, one of their two times every year. It's about a bloody, violent crushing. But yet the prophecy said that none of his bones would be crushed, which they should have been. All that beatings, and normally they would break the legs of the people on the cross to get him to suffocate faster because they had to be taken down sooner. They actually they cast cast lots for his clothing, I mean selling him for thirty pieces of so it's all there. There was no mistake. This was all predetermined. So when we go through this season, it's just to say, God, you are sovereign, you were omniscient, you're on Um, omnipotent, you are all powerful, you're everywhere, you're seeing, you, you have me in your hand and I am secure. Praise be to God. Oh Kay, guys, thank you so much. Hope you guys have a great Easter or resurrection Sunday. But God is good, God is control. Resist take thoughts, capt negative thoughts, captive for the glory of Christ, because he loves you. He does not condemn you. He may convict you, but that is all part of him disciplining does.
