The Bible is not just another their book of religion. The Bible is not a book of sayings by sages and why's men that couldn't help you. It's not. It's not a comparative religion type of literature where you can say, well, the Vedas say this, from Hinduism and Buddhist writings and Harry Krishnan New Age and the book of Mormon and all in the Quran. No, the Bible was written by forty men that were inspired by the Holy Spirit, guiding the writings over three continents, over one thousand five hundred years, from shepherds to kings. The Bible according to Hebrews for twelve and thirteen, for the word of God is alive and it's active and it's sharper than any double edged sword because it penetrates even down to dividing your soul and your spirit, the joints in the morrow. It judges the thoughts, attitudes and tensions of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and expose before the eyes of him, to whom we must give an account. We are the most blessed those who are Christ followers, because not only were we given the right to become children of God by believing, but that God didn't leave US orphans. When Jesus rose to the right hand of the fathers, our great high priest, to intercede. He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, to illuminate the word, to help us to to have victory in these bodies of ours. But we have the word of God. We don't have to guess what truth is. We don't have to try to figure out what God's mind is when it comes to sexuality, the LGBT Movement, sin, pornography, abuse, drugs, alcoholism, how to worship, how not to worship, false religion, true religion, marriage, raising children, dealing with neighbors, dealing with government, it's all there. So we've been equipped, we are loved, we're going to heaven and while we're here, we are we have the tools to be afective for the kingdom. So we are blessed. The reason why I encourage you every day to be in the word of God is because your flesh and the world, the devil and everything does not want you to read the Bible. If you're someone who does, like I, don't know where to start. I get confused, I get tripped up. Go to online Bible study tools. It's what I use and go through the Classic Bible Studies Series. It's a through the Bible in a year, fifteen minutes a day. Old Testament, New Testament, probs, proverb in Psalm, one proverb on Psalm or one Psalm one what? But basically you're going to go through the Bible in a year and when you read it, I think it goes genesis and Luke and like proverb one. Wouldn't you do that? It makes sense. But that's what church is for on Sundays is then you go to use your gifts, to be around people using their gifts and to hear the word of God. And there's there's men that are called to be shepherds, overseers who can answer any questions you have. And of course you have my podcast, which is on permanently. That's how we can have the studies and we can we can speak in we can, we can connect because we have the same truth in our hands. Something I'm seeing a lot is a lot of people are making all these plans. Well, I'm going, I will come to Jesus before I die, or I'm going, I've got to go do these ten things and then I can focus on the Lord. I've got a way for the kids to grow up and then I can go to the Bible studies or whatever. But James and James for thirteen through fifteen, says this. Now, listen you who say now this is the Christians today or tomorrow. We will go to this or that city, we're going to spend a year there and we're going to carry on business and make money. And James says, excuse me, why, you don't even know what will happen where, if you will even have it tomorrow. What is your life? You are missed. That appears for a little while and then it vanishes. Instead, ought to say, if it's the Lord's will, we will live and do this. For that. I encourage you today. Make each day about the Lord and say Lord, my heart, like my my wife and I are praying about going to Oklahoma. So, Lord, that's our heart. That's our desire, that's what we're planning on, but you let your will be done. When we when we make plans and promises and things that that are up to the Lord to change, then we can add to be getting frustrated. Things can go south. People will feel like you didn't tell keep your word. So let's let's try to. Let's try to use wisdom when planning things in the future, because we don't know if we're going to have it tomorrow and we have to leave it up to God to guide and direct our steps, because in the end, we want to be in his will when it's all said and done. This is a this is a kind of a common confession that's been handed down through the years. It's called the mystery of Godliness. First Timothy Sixteen. Beyond all question. The mystery from which true godliness springs is great. Jesus appeared in the flesh, he was vindicated by the spirit, the Holy Spirit, he was seen by angels, heven's, preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. This is our common confession, that Jesus appeared in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world and then he was taken up in glory. And it's a mystery. But because of our salvation in Christ and the feeling of the Holy Spirit and the trust in the in the verification of the reliability of the scriptures, it's true. But only people that are born again, filled with the spirits by faith can believe this. So that's why we pray for their salvation that they could join us. Let's get started here genesis eighteen. We're going to end up. We're going to go to twenty one, but I'm going to go back to genesis eighteen with you will quick if you remember, or FRI's if you're with me. It's when the it's when the three visitors were headed towards Sodom to destroy them. I believe it was Jesus and two angels. But what happened is in verse ten. Well, verse nine. They asked where is your wife, Sarah, Abraham, and when I'm said I will return to you this time next year in Sarah, who's eighty nine, will give you a son, Abraham. I'm sorry, he was yeah, Eighty nine and Abraham's ninety nine at this point. Now Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent which was behind him. Abraham and Sarah are already very old and Sarah was way past the age of tall bearing. She had not had any children, so there was no lineage for Abraham and Sarah. So she laughed to herself and thought, am I worn out? In my Lord? Abraham is old and now I'm going to have the pleasure of having a kid. Verse Thirteen, the Lord said, Abraham. Why did Sarah Laugh and say, well, I have a child now that I'm old. Is Anything too hard for the Lord? So let me ask you question. I'm stop here. Is it? Is there anything in your life did you think is too hard for the Lord. He went to an eighty nine year old woman and when she was ninety, had her only son. So, Verse Fifteen, Sarah was afraid. So she lied to the visitor, which who I think was Jesus, and said I did not laugh, but he said yes, you did laugh. So let's go up to twenty one. Now. This was a promise, this was a this is what the Lord said was going to happen. Well, here we go to verse Twenty One. Verse One. Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah, as he had said, and the Lord did what for Sarah? What he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham at ninety and an Abraham an hundred, at the very time that God had promised him. And Abraham gave the name Isaac to be to the Son Sarah bore him. And when Isaac was eight days old, Abraham sac circumcised them as God had commanded. And Abraham was a hundred when he when his son Isaac was born to him. Sarah says, God has brought me laughter. Everyone who hears about this will laugh with me. And she added, who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children. Yet I have borne him a son in his old age. So God promised, it was God's will that they would have a child because God was establishing the lineage through whom Jesus would come through eventually. Not Ishmael. Ishmael was a by product of Abraham telling the Egyptian leaders a half truth and because of that the farrells like, you know what, get out of here and You d take the female servants. I gave you which one I'm them was Hagar. Male servants and animals leave well out of that. Eventually the Egyptian slave girl lends up married to Abraham, who ends up having a son. The promise is to Isaac. So as we go through the story here, this is where you have the problem now with Hagar and Isaac. It says in verse eight the Child Grew and was weaned, and on the day that Isaac was weaned, Abraham had a great feast. But Sarah saw that Hagar, the Egyptian who had borne Ishmael to Abraham, was mocking him, and so she said Abraham, get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that woman's son will never share an the inheritance of my son Isaac. The matter distressed Abraham because it concerned his son, but God said to him, do not be distressed about the boy and the slave woman. Listen To what Sarah tells you, because it is to Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned. I will also make the son of the slave ishmael into a nation, because he's your offspring. Earning the morning, Abraham took some food and skin of water and gave it to Hagar. He Sat, he set them on her shoulders and send her in the boy way. They watered into the desert a BREASHEBA. When the water was gone, she puts Ishmael under some bushes and she goes about a bowshot away, football filled away, or so, because she's saying I can't watch him die out here, and she's sobbing. And God heard the boys crying in the angel of God called to Hagar from Heaven and said what's The matter here? Don't be afraid, God has heard of boy. Left up the boy. Take him by the hand and then, for I'm going to make him into a great nation. So God opened her eyes and she saw water, the well of water. She filled it with skin, gave it to Ishmael and he was restored and God was with the boys. That grew and he lived in the desert, became an archer. While he was living in the desert of Perran, his mother got him a wife from Egypt. God, because of what Abraham did by taking the slave woman and having a child, is going is going to use Ishmael Islam to punish and to be adversaries for against Israel, for testing and actually for Ted, for a problem for the world, because it the prophecy was on Ishmael in his line that it would be wild donkeys and would not get along with men, would not get along with mankind. This is according to the word of God. So what happens then is that a Bamlak remember here from Egypt, member where they lied half truth. He's like, okay, Hey, commander of the forces, a pickle, we got to go talk to Abraham. They're huge and we don't really problems with them. So they went to Abraham. Said God, God is with you and everything you do. Abraham, now swear to me that you here before God, that she will not deal falsely with me or my children or descendants. Show me the same kindness that I showed you as a foreigner in my land. Abrahams did I swear it? So then Abraham complained a Bimlek about the well of water that a Beamlek servants had seas. But of Demlox said, I did have nothing to do with this. Why didn't you tell me about it for today? So Abraham brought sheep and cattle gave them to a bimlect. They made a treaty, and it says in Verse Thirty One. So they made so that place was called Bearsheba because the two men swear oath. Barsheba means seven wells. And after the treaty was made of Bathsheba, Bemlek and pickled the commander of the forces. Returned to the land of Philistines. Abraham planted a tamorrist tree and Bathsheba, and there he called on the name of the Lord, the eternal God, and Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for a long time. God can do anything, doesn't matter our age, doesn't matter, our circumstances, doesn't matter how we feel. And I'm going to do a podcast on the LGBT movement, things like that, because or on who God is. Our feelings about reality are what we feel never trumps God's truth. So, regardless of what you've been through, regardless of what you're going through, regards to how you feel, regardless of what you think should have happened, if God wants a ninety nine year old man going on a hundred and eighty nine year old woman going on ninety two be get prepared to have a baby, then we then we should believe that. If God is saying your finances are a disaster, but if, if you're faithful to work and to pray and to seek, if God tells you not some I have a word from the old war from you. If God says, if you just trust me and I will take care of it, and trust him marriage. I'm going to do another podcast on I might even go start doing a live show, because I'm going to stop the presses here for a second. I'll tell you who I am again. If you don't know, I've been married twenty eight years. I got in when I was in high school, just got out of high school. Of Girl, got pregnant and obviously disaster. Got Married because that's what I was supposed to do. Ungodly man, ungodly wife, and then we end up divorcing eventually. So I know what it's like when people get themselves in bad positions because of their flesh and because of lack of wisdom. And I've been married twenty eight years with my godly wife. I know men, men, I know how to do it wrong and I kind of know how to do it right, but I know the Bible knows how we should do it right. I was talking to somebody that I love dearly, but they struggle with God's were got the part of God's word that deals with marriage because of their experiences. So we'll get to that. But the things I share with you is from I have a book called fifty one that as soon as we get to olahome and get settled, I'll get it hopefully done. But unfortunately I have a lot of wisdom because I did it wrong. But God has been faithful to bring me through things and they've been blessing me for several years now. So when I when we're going through the scriptures and it says you guys are going to have a kid, well, that's not possible. Is Anything impossible with God? And by the way, why did you lie? I didn't lie. Well, I think all of us have said God, yeah, right, God, we don't want to do that. We walk by faith, not by sight. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So the takeaway from today God kept his promise. They had a child, Isaac, whom, through the world, would be blessed, in whom thumb we as gentiles are grafted into the lineage of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and all the way down David Jesus, because of faith, the faith of our forefathers. Second thing is God. God is faithful even when we're not. So, regardless of how Ishmael came about because he came through Abraham, who God had promised to bless Abraham down to Ishmael was blessed because his father was Abraham. But the promise, the second thing is to promise from God man kindness to Isaac. It's not through Ishmael.
