Welcome to Christian talk with Eric Thompson, a thoughtful podcast helping Christians navigate life. I'LL PODCAST for Christ. I bring faith, family political issues, using God's word, the Bible. The victory is ours. Let our light shine before others so they may glorify our father in heaven. Welcome to Christian talk with Eric Thompson. Hi, welcome to another Christian talk podcast. Thank you so much for joining me. It's Friday, March Eighteen, two thousand and twenty two. You want to get hold of me, I or check out other information about our podcast. Set over to Christian talk dot life. Christian talk dot life. Today we're going to end up over at Genesis twenty, but before we get there, one to share a few thoughts with you. About three years ago or so, four years of years are going by fast now, I was on a solar appointment. I sold a lot of solar systems and there was a lady that was invited me over for the appointment and where we start talking about the Lord and had a lot in common until she said, well, you know, we're going to maybe disagree on this or maybe you have a different opinion on this. I think that's how we got to the to this topic and she said, well, my nephew is gay and I know that God's going to be okay with that because he's a good kid. And I'm like, but that being good doesn't have anything to do with being okay with God. So, in the in the pursuit of grace, in the pursuit of not having a big confrontation in our house, I just said basically all of sending fallen short of the glory of God. And if we confess our mouth and believe in our heart that God raise Jesus from the dead, we have eternal life with their mouth. We confess it and but we believe it leads into salvation. So, but take the good out of out of the equation, and this is this is more common and it's becoming more obvious to me as I get older. My wife and I were talking about it today, about it something a counterfeit Christianity, and we'll go over a few scriptures here that talks about in the end times this falling away. But why bringing this up? There is a famous person in the political world. He's a conservative, but he's a homosexual man that, quote unquote, married another homosexual man obviously, and so the conservative sides. I okay, we have somebody now that's in that community, so we're going to embrace them. Well, on social media, I think it was today or yesterday I did I'm not going to look at the I'm just looking at the comments, this guy went and announced with pictures with his partner these a think it was twins or babies. We've just adopted. Now. The cultures told Christians would stay out of our bedrooms, don't tell us what to do and our bedrooms, and I could, I think most of us could, have never really had an interest in what they were doing in there. But what's happening now is there's people that are also influencers, people that are known a little bit, that have an audience, that are replying on social media. Congratulations. Now, if you if you look at these people's podcast and shows and comments, God, scripture, the nuclear family, Adam and Eve, man and woman, children, God's plan today. Oh, you guys, you guys practicing homosexuality and you can have a influence. You get the influence. Two small babies, two babies their whole lives. Care I congratulations, but it says in the end that people would be falling away from the faith. Second Timothy, three, one through five. But understand this, in the last days they'll be difficult times, for people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful on Holy Heartless on Peasable, slanderous, without self control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness but denying its power, of void. Such people. First Timothy for one. Now the spirits expressly, expressly says in the latter times that sum will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons. So I just wanted to bring this up so you and I can be in prayer, because I was out last night looking at the stars, I could do at night, and I just felt the Lord kept saying to me, pray more, pray, pray, because the Diet, the time, Hims are darker. We need to be in prayer. But if you and when you run into people in your life that are in open sin, you have to decide am I going to stay in prayer for these people and not to be entangled with them in their sin, because that's what the scriptures would have us do. If you look over here in Second Corinthian six hundred fourteen, Christians, do not be yoked with unbelievers, don't be mismatched with them, for what do righteousness and lawlessness share together, and what does light have in common with darkness? See in in especially in American and in America, in the American culture. We want to be liked, we want to get along, we don't want people to be mean to us. We want to be in the end. We want to be chosen for the kickball team, we want to get a lot of people on social media that like our post. But, as I go over with with you guys every time, in First John to fifteen and sixteen, do not love the world or anything in the world. If anything, if anyone loves the world, the love of the fathers, not in and for all that is in the world. It's the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, the pride of life. It's not from the father but from the world. We want to be loving people, we want to be compassionate people, we want to be servants, but we do not want to be commingled with the lost. We want to share the Gospel, we want to be kind. But if somebody says I am in a sin, look at I get to I get a chance to to do more sin. Oh Wow, great, publicly, no, and a lot of people are doing that. They're choosing the love of the world, they're choosing to be liked, they're choosing to be in the end and they're rejecting their lord and I just I just think it's grievous. I want to point that out because it's just happening. glacians. That's that's that's get some encouragement here now. But then we'll go into the scripture, glacians five, twenty two and twenty three. And this is the fruit of the spirit. This is these are the characteristics that we should be able to see in ourselves and manifest it through other people that are born again. But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law. Now some people will say to me, well, see, the fruit of the spirit is love. She should love everybody. Our job is to pray, read God's word, be known for loving the church, being available for God to do good works, and God takes care of everything. Our job is not to love people in their sin, unrepentant. You don't walk around will yeah, most my friends are are doing coke and cheating on their spouses, but you know what, who am I to judge? So I'll see him at the ball game again Friday. Really the fruit of the spirit in our lives as we want to be. They want to see that we love God, we love our family, that we care, and then we have a joy in the Lord and we have a and there's a kindness. So even if we disagree with these people, like I'm not going to go and say anything about this person online directly because that's not kind. But the people that say they're Christians, that are telling good job. I'm saying, read Your Bible, goodness and faithfulness. If we do the things that the Holy Spirit leads us to do, there's no law against those. And then one more and then we'll get started on the scriptures, Romans Eight. I'm actually going to do a whole podcast on this, but I want to cover the Bait, some of the main points out of it. Verse One. They're therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus Christian. There's no condemnation from God for those who are in Christ Jesus, because Verse Two says do Jesus Christ the law, the of the spirit who gives life, has set you free from the law of sin and death. Down an eighteen, Paul said, I consider my present sufferings that they're not worthy comparing with the glory that we will receive in us the Tru we all Jesus said you will have trials, you will have tribulations, but don't fear, because I have overcome the world. So whatever we go through in life, it will never compare to the glory that's waiting for us. So if you're going through a good time, bad time, average time, if you know people struggling, James has accounted all joy when you go through trials, because it produces perseverance, long suffering, dependency on God, Gould. That's all you have. So Romans eight one, there's no condemnation till tell your thought life, if it's the demonic world trying to oppress you know, quote to Scriptures. Greater is he this and me, then is in the world that I because I believe I've been given the privilege of becoming and I am a child of God. My Name is written in the book of life. And then down here in thirty one. That's actually let's go down to thirty seven. In all things, where more than conquerors, through him who loved us, for I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor powers, any powers, neither heights nor depth, nor anything else, and all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, Our Lord. So be encouraged. You're more than a conqueror. There's no condemnation and there's nothing that you're we're going to experience in life that compares to the glory that's waiting for us. My first sponsor, pure talk USA. Do me a favor write down get pure talkcom. This is a no brainer. Listen to how this works. Most people are paying way too much money for their cell service ATNT rise and tea mobile, sprint, and we were two with tea mobile because I kept going over on our data plans. And then I get these massive bills. So I didn't say money after all. So one day I got sick of it. I said I'm going to try out pure talk and I think I called them, went to the website and call them because I just wanted to make sure at the time, and they sent me the Sim cards and the mail because they told me you're going to keep your existing phones and you're going to keep your phone numbers. I said sweet, as I was afraid of that. I didn't want to buy more phones and stuff. And then you're going to pop them in your phones, which is easy to do, and then when you turn your phones on, it'll say pure talk at the top. And guess what, I stayed on the exact same towers. So now, if you decide to save eight hundred to a thousand dollars a year for as a family and do what hundreds of thousands of other people did, like I have done, you put them in your phone, you turn your phones on, you have the same number of bars on your phone, you have the same coverage, same towers, hot spot everything. Except when you get your bill it'd be about fifty percent less than what you've been paying. The average family staves are on eight hundred dollars a year, eightzero dollars over ten years by doing nothing different except switching over to get pure talkcom. And when you do that, when you sign up, use the Promo Code three letters, FLS at checkout. For Liberty's sake, FL s at check out, you'll get fifty percent off your first month. So if your first bill drops all way down to sixty now you're paying thirty bucks for the first month and your bill is a non issue. So this the CEO, is a veteran customer services in the Lanta, Georgia area, or top rated wireless company. Again, they don't charge you if you go over on your data. So if your bills sixty bucks a month, in the end, like my bill's been sixty two dollars and twenty three cents. Unless I change my plan up every month, it'll be the same regardless if I go over on my data one month. So go to get pure talkcom Promo Code fls. I thank you for doing that, and the companies thinking you also. They're sending me emails that you guys are taking advantage of that Promo Code of FLS, fifty percent off. All right, we are up to genesis twenty, but we're going to I'M gonna go back to Genesis twelve here with you real quick, because Abraham's family, and Isaac I think, does this later. They have, but they have a way of like giving rid of the getting, giving away their wives will get. What do you mean by that? Well, if you remember, back in Genesis Twelve, I'm yeah, back justis twelve, down at verse ten, it said there was famine in the land and Abram, this is before he was changed. Abraham went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe and as he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife, Sarah, who's this half sister, but his wife, I know what a beautiful woman you are, kind of buttering up his wife. Honey, you really good looking, and when the Egyptian see you, they're going to say who is this? This is his wife, and they're going to kill me and take you. So do me a favor, SIS wife. Tell them you're my sister. Don't tell him the part about the wife, and then my life will be spared. So that's what happened. They entered in the Egyptian saw that, Sir I was beautiful. They took her and they gave Abraham, remember this, sheep, cattle, male and female donkeys, male and female servants and camels. In that group was Hagar, which we just went over, where Ishmael comes out of eventually, and Islam. But the Lord of flicks and flicked it serious disease on the Farre on his household, and and so verse eighteen. Pharaoh summoned Abraham said what you do to me? Why didn't you tell me she's your wife? Why'd you say she's my sister? So that I took her? And now then, here, here's your wife. Go and Pharaoh gave orders about Abraham and his men and sent them away with his wife and everything he had. Well, now we're in genesis twenty. Guess what happens? Abraham now is going to once again ask his wife to tell the Pharaoh coming in Egypt that you're my sister, sere. We go verse one. Abraham moved from there into the region of the Negev and lived between Kaday Kadesh and sure for while he stayed there and Garer. And there Abraham said to his wife Sarah, Hey, guys, she's my sister. So people are like who is she did my sister. So then a BAMILEC, the king of Ger, sent for Sarah. He took her, but God went to a Bimelec in a dream and said you're as good as dead because the woman you've taken is a married woman. Now Bimelec, who had not Gotte near her, said to the Lord, would you destroy an innocent nation? Did he not say she was my sister, and did he also say she say he's my brother? I have done this with the clear conscience and clean hands, and God said to him in a dream. Yes, I know you did this with the clear conscience, so I kept you from sitting against me. Says why didn't let you touch her? Now return the man's wife, or he's a prophet and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you will not return, if you do not return her, you will you may be sure that you and all who belonged you will die. During the next morning bimlek summons. All of his officials told him what happened. BIMBLEC called Abraham said, and what have you done? How have I wronged that you brought such a great guilt upon me and my kingdom. You have done things to me that should have never been done. It's kind of it's just strange in me. Could remember we spoke about faith last time, because when it came to Isaac is, faith is accredited to him, is righteousness. But the second in time he's he's like gonna hurt me. She can take her. She's my sister. So Abraham replied to them. Why? said to myself, there surely no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife. Besides, she's really my sister. She's a daughter of my father but not of my mother, and so she became my wife and my God had me wander from my father's household. I said to her, this is how you can show you love me, honey. Anywhere we go, say he's my brother. So BEMLEC brought sheep, cattle, more male female slaves, gave them to Abraham and he returned Sarah to his wife and a Beamlek said, my land is before you live where you like, and Sarah said him, I'm giving your brother to Sarah. He said, I'm giving your brother. A thousand Shechos of sober sit the cover of my fence. Against you. you are completely vindicated. Then Abraham Pray to God and God healed the Bemlek, his wife and female slave, so they could have children again, for the Lord of kept all the children of bemlex household from conceiving because of Abraham's wife Sarah. So what do we get out of this chapter? Number One, Abraham is still walking. You still walking in fear and he still walking not in faith. When it comes to this issue, most of us in our Christian walk have areas where we struggle. Right we'll read the scriptures and then we get ourselves in a similar position and then we do the same thing. So I'm not going to say that Abraham's doing did anything different than we don't do, but which we should learn from this. If God has been faithful in a situation before, remember last time in very in chapter twelve, God spoke to the Pharaoh, don't touch her. If you are truly walking in the spirit, in faith. Abraham would have said, well, she's my sister. In my way, she's my wife, half sister, but she's my wife, and God could have protected him. But this is how God works. The number one is if God takes you through a trial and and he delivers you and you're presented with the same possible trial again, to our best ability, walk and faith and don't make the same mistake the second time, the third time or the fourth time. So we need to learn and to walk in faith based off of God's past faithfulness, with the expectation and knowing he's faithful, does not change and will do the same in the future if it's according if it's for his will, in that situation too. Secondly, God end up blessing Abraham and the family in the whole the whole caravan, there by having a Bimlaki give them a bunch of stuff, to the point that he even gave Bem luck, even gave Sarah a thousand Chechos of silver to this is a cover the offense against would that I've done to you, even though he didn't know. Hey, I want to be totally clean. I hear some silver. It's almost like a dowry that never took place because he had to give her back. But God is faithful. In God used the lack of faith by Abraham to get a pagan to bless Abraham and the family anyway to help enrich this new this family lineage that was building that was going to end up bringing in the Messiah. So God, just like you did with Joseph and Daniel, God works all things out for good to those who are the called, to those according their doing, according to his purpose, that are that are part of the plan. So let's try to walk more in faith, especially when we're going through a similar trial, and understand that God can work all things out for good. He can take beauty from ashes, he can restore what the locusts have eaten, and that is what is that's what's jumping out of me in genesis twenty and and it's it's why we it's why we pray. God, give us faith, give us joy, give us the ability to to die to self, give us ability to make much of the cross. May We decrease, Jesus, that you would increase and do it daily, because Jesus said, if you love me, if you're my true believers, you pick up your cross daily. And I think, I think that is one of the major issues with the Church in America today. The Christians trying to live in this crazy, fast culture. Is it? Everything is comingled and and fast moving and it's like no, no, no, Christians were supposed to be a set apart from the world and say today, and I'm going to I'm going to be doing this more myself, because I've been praying at night, but I'm gonna Start to pray consistently in the morning before my Bible reading. What am I doing today? Lord? I know there's a million things going on, I know the world is upside down, I know there's people that are walking away from the faith, but what will how do I live to day in a way that when I go to bed? There's a book called wasted life by John Piper and he deals with making much of the Cross daily. If we don't make much of Jesus daily, if we, at the end of the night, can say I didn't read my scriptures to day, I didn't ask for God's intervention, I didn't present the Gospel when I had the opportunity, I didn't make much of Jesus. And what was the day about? Because a day where God is not exalted in our hearts and in the world, when given the opportunity by the Holy Spirit, as he's moving on people, then what we had at the end of the day was I lived the way I wanted to live and I did what I wanted to do, and that's no different than the Pagans. But here's the good news. I could set in Romans Eight. We're more than conquerors. Nothing can separate us from the love of God, and we are light. We are light of the world, the light of the world were little lights. So God is using us, God is conforming us into his son's image, and God is going to make much of us, as we make much of him, in his purposes, for his glory. And it's in it. It is it is a it's a powerful the salvation we have. If you just meditate on it, it's profound. I'm going through Hebrews. I mentioned it yesterday. The Jesus anchors us in the the holy of Holy so we we cannot leave God's presence. We are in the presence of and we have an intimate relationship with our creator. That's why it says to call him Abba father as we enter in boldly into his presence. Because try to picture the lost here, and I'm going to end end with this. If you have, if you know people that are walking the fence, they think they're walking the line where they're like, I'm kind of a Christian. I don't really want to go to church and I don't really want to do old I don't I don't really want to be active. I just want to get out of hell. Or Yeah, I go to church all week or I mean I go to church on the weekends, you know, and praise the Lord and I'm prophesying. The Lord gave me a vision, the Lord gave me a word. If you if you're going through that or if you know people, Jesus didn't mince words, geese. Jesus was not a two thousand and twenty two United States of America, a lot of a majority of the people to go to church, statistically, or women. But God through the Scriptures and Jesus's words were for everybody. They weren't mushy. So Jesus said this in Matthew Twenty one through twenty three. This is if you try it, if you try to picture this in today's world, this would can be this would be considered hateful. But Jesus said this. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, okay, who would that be? People that claim to be Christians or they think they know what a Christian is. They they were Baptizy, baptized as an infant or whatever. But Jesus said, not every one who says to me, Lord Lord, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. What I can tell you as a former Catholic growing up and when I was born again in my early twenties, you know that verse actually stumped to me. I remember I was upstairs in a house and Mary at a California playing a guitar and pretty much the dark. I used to like to just worship in the dark and play my guitar and but then I was thinking about this scriptures or I had read the Bible right before, but I remember being up there and I said that's not right because as a Catholic I was going to earn my way in. So not everyone who says to me, Lord Lord, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but the one who does the will of my father who is in Heaven Will Verse Twenty Two. On that day and the Judgment Day, many will say to me, Lord Lord, I guess I'm in I'm getting judged here, or I don't know what's going on this point. But Lord didn't didn't we prophesign your name? I mean they know that they're judged. Didn't we prophesy on your name? How do you how do you prophesign? Some well, you're claiming to be a Christian and you're a maybe, either out in public or you're in church. And it says, and didn't we cast out demons in your name? And didn't we do mighty works in your name? And I will declare to them the most terrific words I imaginable for a human I never knew. You depart from me. You'd workers of lawlessness. There's only two places that God has designed for eternity, for humanity. Heaven, when his children who came to faith, who believed, they were then adopted as as children of God, adopted children of God, which means there they were co errors. They were there now part of the Kingdom of God. For the people who don't fit into that category, not called loved their sin, love darkness, loved the world. Then they are eternally separated from God in a place created for the devil and his demons called Hell. There's no purgatory, there's no middle road. Says why Jesus came and died? Because he came to save the lost and he said look, I am going to be crucified and I'm going to be buried and I'm going to rise up from the third day and save people. Must saved the elect I'm going to save you, but many of you are going to choose hell. You're not going to you're not going to keep my commandments. You're not going to suffer at all for my namesake. You're not going to make much of me. You're not going to exalt me in the cross, you're not going to lift up the name of Yahweih as the one and only true God. Thus, your pride is going to keep you from coming to faith, and then you will be separated from me. Our jobs as Christians. As I say, it's not about if you can prophesy, it's not about if you can cast out demons. You remember when the seventy disciples were sent out in and they came back and they were they were so stoked talking to Jesus man. The demons listen to us. Everything was so amazing. Jesus said, don't Brag about being able to cast out demons, don't be don't be excited about being able to do these works. Instead, rejoice that your names are written in the book of life. At the end of our lives we should be known for making much of Jesus. The works that we do are a Composhan from him loving US first, him saving us in our good works come out of our love for our Lord. People that like to be seen in front of the church, on the worship teams and the pulpit, or even in the Bible Studies, where they always got to be prophesying, they always got to be given a word from the Lord. They always have to be seen. Pray for them. Humility is how we can come to Christ, because we are without Jesus nothing, we can do nothing. So why do we boast as though we can? We were blind and now we see, and that is when the fruit of the spirit fills us, because we then are dependent a hundred percent on our Lord for his glory, and that is what makes life all about. That's what makes life living for all right. Hope you guys are blessed by this. Be couraged.
