We're going through the Bible chapter by Chapter. So this is day eighteen, which means we're on genesis chapter eighteen, and we're going to deal with the angels heading towards Sodom to find out and to execute judgment on what's going on, what was going on in those cities. So thank you again for hanging out with me. Let's start with the foundational verse I like to use every day, Hebrews for twelve and thirteen. I'm going through Hebrews and my daily Bible, reading my through the Bible in a year. The Bible is not a book of wisdom only. It's not another religious book. It's not a book you leave sitting around your house and you pull out in the event of a death or a wedding. Hebrews for twelve says the word of God which, by the way, was written by forty inspired men, from shepherds to kings, over one thousand five hundred years on three different continents, without any contradictions. How's that possible? God wrote it the Holy Spirit inspired men and by them penning down what God wanted us to know. Through their personal experiences. Then we can trust in God's word because it is living, it's active, it's sharper than a double edged sword, which means it's ready for combat in the spiritual world. It penetrates even down to dividing our soul and spirit joints, and morrow and a judges the thoughts and attitudes of our heart. The key to Christian living humility, prayer, reading God's word, since to understand God's word you would have to have been born from above. Then the Holy Spirit works to us. What's why, it says in Corinthians, don't you realize that your body's not your own, that you've been bought at a price, therefore glorified God with your body and your spirit, which was his? And then we go out and we share the Gospel, in the power of Jesus Christ and powered by the Holy Spirit, in humility for Christ's sake, making much of Jesus, loving our family, our neighbors and people in the church as we love ourselves. And then we go to bed, we get up Ado it again. James says, don't get carried away and making all these plans and predictions, because you don't know if you have it. Tomorrow will we have as now. So let's use our time and our resources for to advance the kingdom. Psalm one hundred and three David wrote. Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, hey me, bless God in all that's in me. Bless God's name. Verse to bless the Lord On my soul and forget not all of God's benefits. He forgives all your sins, he heals your diseases, redeems Your Life from Hell, crowned you with loving kindness and tender mercy, satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the Eagles in the Lord Executes Righteousness and Justice for all who are oppressed. He looked down when he had to separate with Abram, who now became Abraham, and it's like, well, where do you want to go, nephew lots? Well, uncle, I'm going to go down towards Sodom and good more, even though it's wicked, but the meadows the Jordan planes are so green and they're going to be great for my animals and I know I can. I can probably you know, I got to be strong. This is what I'm thinking in my mind if I'm looking at him, because why is he heading down towards sin? Well, what happened is is that Sodom good more got defeated in a war and lot and the family was taken away and Abraham was some guys, three hundred and ninety, seventeen guys, whatever, sixteen guys, had to go rest. You them. So now Abraham is been talking to God, as name was changed from Abraham to Abraham, Sarah to Sarah. God has told him you're going to have a son next year. And in verse one of Chapter Eighteen, the Lord appeared to Abraham. It's been happening a lot near the great trees and memory. While he was sitting at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day and he looked up and he saw three men standing nearby. Kind of shock you and your middle nowhere iness, three guys. All sudden. He hurried from the entrance of his tent. He met at and he bowed down to them. He said, if I found favor in your eyes, my Lord, do not pass your servant by the little water be brought and may your peepe washed and rest under the tree. I'll get you something eat. You can be refreshed and go on your way. Very well, they answered, do as you're say. So back on verse one, it was a lord that appeared. Of the three, I believe one of them was Jesus Christ, and it's called a Christophany. It's a pre incarnate Jesus Christ in bought in a physical body with the two angels. So, Abraham, Ryan, Hey, get to get the tender calf. I want you guys to prepare, get everything, curt and the milk and everything, and I would let's feed these guys her, her hurry. So Sarah, so they said to him. So then he comes back. Okay, everything's emotion. Guys. They said, where is your wife, Sarah? They're in the ten. He said, how did they know? As Wife's was Sarah. Well, when you God, you know all you know. Also, verse ten, one of them said, which is I believe, Jesus, I will surely return to you about this time next year. In Sarah, your wife, who was Sarah until I changed it. Sarah, your wife, will have a son. Well, Abraham was just told previously in the previous chapter that you're going to have a son and he said, well, that's not possible, bless Ish Mel, my thirteen year old boy, because I can't have a boy at what a hundred? I'm ninety nine. You think I'm have a boy two hundred? I says. Well, I want you to get circumcised, you and all the guys, as a covenant between you and me, and yes, you're going to have a son come out of you through Sarah. You guys are going to create a baby and you're going to call him Isaac. Well, Sarah Dobrasy didn't get the message, or she still was thinking that it's not going to happen. So back in verse ten, he said, I'm going to return next year. Sarah's going to have a son. Now Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent which was behind them. Before I get too heart on Sarah, what would you think, ladies and men? But let's say, let's say men, you are eighty nine and your wife is seventy nine. I'm sorry, you're ninety nine and your wife is eighty nine, and you find out, oh, next year, when you turn a hundred and your wife turns ninety, you're finally going to have your child. You've been waiting for. What would you think? What kind of faith would it take to believe that? Every night I try to go outside and pray and I just took up at the stars and I can see the great the little dipper, big dipper, all that. I can see everything there in the moon and and God is feels really close and I'm asking for faith, increase my faith, because this world is going crazy. So Sarah is no different than you and me, I think so. Verse Eleven, Abraham and Sarah. We are already very old. Sarah was way past the age of childbearing. She's eighty nine. So Sarah laughed and said, Huh, after I'm worn out the and the my Lord Abraham is old. Now I'm going to have this pleasure of having a kid. Then the Lord said, Abraham, why did Sarah Laugh and say, will I really have a child now that I'm old? That freak you out? Verse Four, team, he said, is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time. Makes Year in Sarah will have a son. Sarah was afraid, so she lied to the Lord. I did not laugh, and he said yes, you did. Reminds me of the Lady Cott in adultery and the like. Well, who's going to judge her? So I wrote on the ground. They laughed and he said, okay, who's left to accuse you? Nobody. Why forgive you, but don't do it anymore. Hey, Sarah, why'd you laugh? I didn't, you did. So number one, nothing is impossible for God. Stay humble and when you're called out by God, don't lie to him because you're not actually lying. You're lying, but he you're not deceiving him. He knows what you're doing. If God wants to do a miracle, like we spoke I've actually we went over the sun yesterday's podcast too, when God was telling Abraham you're going to be Abraham because you're going to be the father of many nations. He said, how I'm old. Well, here we are now, Sarah's having the argument with God. So number one, allow God to be God. Nothing's impossible and don't lie to God. Be Humble. Number two. So now we go down to Abraham is pleading for Sodom. So in Verse Sixteen. So when the men got up to leave, they look down towards Sodom and Abraham was walking with them. And then, I believe, Jesus said to the angels, should we tell Abraham what you guys are going to be doing, what we're doing, because Abraham's going to become a great and powerful nation. All the nations will be blessed to him, for I have chosen him so that he will direct his children and household after him to keep the ways of the Lord by doing what is right in just so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he promised the covenant that they made so verse twenty the Lord said, Hey, the outcry against Sodomgamor is great and their sin is so grievous that I'm going to go down and see if what has been said is as bad as the outcry. I'll know. But Jesus was going to go. When he said I he was sending to angels. So the two turned away. The men turned away and went towards Sodom, Abraham standing there. Abraham said, you're going down there to judge the people. He said, are you going to wipe away on everybody? What if there's fifty good, righteous people? Would you really sweep them away too? But the would you? Would you not spare the place for fifty righteous people. Far being from you to do such a thing, to kill righteous people, treating the righteous like the wicked, far be it. Will not the judge of all the earth do right. So the Lord said, okay, if I find fifty righteous and Sodom that picture this with me. I don't know if there's a hundred thousand and fifty thous don't know how many people are in Sodom, but a lot of people remember lot, who went down towards oddom. Good more, ends up running the front gate on WHO's coming in. So obviously was promoted to a government position. So a lot is going to be greeting the angels in a little bit. So there's a problem in lot's house. But Abraham still like, I don't want them to get killed, I just want to save them sort Lord said. In Twenty six, up I find fifty out of all those people, I'll spare the place, the whole place, even the centers. If you ever wonder why isn't God judging America because there's some righteous people in it? He's sparing the place for the righteous, but he won't forever. Verse. Twenty seven, Abraham spoke up again now I know that I've been bold to speak to you, Lord like this. What if there's what if there's forty five people in? The Lord said, if I find forty five, I won't destroy it. And he spoke up again. What if there's only forty, I won't, and they said, Laura, don't be angry. What if there's thirty, I won't. He said, I hate Abrahams thirty one. I hate to be bull what if there's twenty, but take of twenty. I will not destroy it. And then the last request. Lord, don't be angry. What if there's about only ten? Now he he's down. Abraham's down around lots wives, lots of daughters and their betrothed husband's so right now we're about six people or so that he can think of. So he goes, well, what if there's ten? so He's thinking, will maybe their family members? What? What if there's only what if there's ten that can be found in? The Lord said, for the sake of ten, I won't destroy it. When the Lord finished, had finished speaking with Abraham, he left and Abrahammer turned home. Number two. God is on suffering. God Is Love, God is compassionate, God is Holy, God is righteous. God is just and through communication, God's God in His Holiness, still said Abraham, I hear your heart, and if there's if there is just a handful of people down there, if there's a ten people, I'll say then I'll save the whole bunch of them. So we need to keep in mind that God is just, so justice has to be meeted out, but God is long suffering and God is love, so keep that in mind. God sends angels down to confirm what was happening, but it's also a record for us, because when you find out what the men of the city tried to do to the angels, then you'll understand why God judge the whole city. So two things. God is long suffering, God is love, but God is just. So Trust in God's righteousness. Like, like Abraham said in Verse Twenty Five. Far be it from you, God, to do such a thing, to kill righteous people with the wicked, and to treat the righteous and the wicked alike. Far Be From It. Will not the judge of all the Earth do right? And a course, the answer is yes, yes, God does what is right, because God is immutable. God doesn't change. God Is Holy. We are not, which reminds me.
