Let's start with when the most important set of verses in the Bible, Hebrews for twelve. If it's the first time you're listening, the Bible is not just a book of religion, it's not just another option, it's just not. It's just not one of a series of religious gurus instruction manuals. Hebrews twelve says that the word of God, it's alive and it's active. See, the Bible was written as inspired by the Holy Spirit through forty authors on three continents over one thousand five hundred years, without any contradictions. How's that possible? Because God wrote it. And when you're born again in the Holy Spirit is in you. Then as you're reading God's word, than the Holy Spirit, God can confirm those words in your heart and you were built up. So when you read the word, it's a live, attactive it's going to change you. If you read the word of God and it's sharp, not just one edge, but it's a double edge, like the use in been wartime, back in the Roman days double edged sword. It penetrates even to the dividing of your soul, in your spirit, down in your bones, your joint in your moral, the joints in the moral, and it judges the thoughts and intense of your heart prayer. God's word, you're going to be encouraged, exhorted, broken, challenge, you're going you're going to change if you're in God's word, because it's alive. If you're not in God's word, was Jesus said, we need. We need to desire God's word more than our regular bread for our food. If you're not, then you're going to be an emic and you're going to be an infant seeking milk when you should be on food soil. Hebrews and twelve because thirteen continues. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. So you can't get away with anything because God sees everything, because everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of him, to whom we must give an account. Hebrews for twelve over in Psalm one hundred and three, one through six. It's a list the David wrote. He was praising God for his mercies, but he's going to list out here the benefits of being a child of God. It says in Psalm one hundred three, verse one. Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, and all that is within me. Bless his holy name, bless the Lord, Oh my soul, and forget not all of his benefits. Who forgives all your sins, heals you from all your diseases, he redeems your life from destruction, crowned you with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like eagles. Like the Eagles, the Lord Executes Righteousness and Justice for all who are oppressed. nonbelievers or the unsaved can't say that list they haven't been forgiven of their sins. They're not going to be healed of their ailments. When they die, they're not going to be they're not going to avoid hell, they're not going to be crowned with love and kindness and tender mercies. So pray for the lost that God would save them. The reason why this is important, the reason why we read the word of God, is because Jesus, in Matthew Fourteen, said you who are the elect, you that are that are saved, because he's already spen, he's already been speaking about darkness and there's no fellowship with light with darkness, and there's and and that he'd the Sun. The Sun came into the world, the light came into the world, but the world did not comprehend it. And but as Christians we are the light of the world. The church universally we are the light. So we're individual little lights to go out from our church, go out from our homes, because Jesus said a city on a hill can't be hid, and neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead they set it on a stand and give light to everyone in the house. We're called to be gentle, compassionate insteadfast in God's word. We're not to be angry, we're not to be combative, because God it's do not repay evil for evil, for justice, you know, for vengeance, as mine saith. The Lord God is with us. Our job is to be prepared to give an answer, our job is to make much of Jesus and our job is to share the gospel. And we and by being humble and pursuing those things and we are lights in a dark world. Let's get started here with our Bible reading. We're going to end up on Genesis Sixteen, but we need to go over genesis twelve. The reason why is that, if you remember, if you've been listening to all the podcast Abraham went down into Egypt because of a famine and he was that. If you remember, when he was going into Egypt, he told his wife, Sarah, who who was this sister, half sister, to I know you're your beautiful honey, so lie for me. When they ask who you are, don't say I'm Abram's wife, tell him you're my sister. It's half true. You are my full wife, but you are my housess, because then they'll let me live, because if you tell them that I'm your wife, that you're my wife, then they'll kill me and they'll take you. So she did that. But what happened is in Verse Fourteen of Chapter Twelve that it says now there was a famine in the land and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because of the famine is about to enter. He said, I know you're beautiful, tell him you're my sister. And then in verse fourteen, when Abram came to Egypt. The Egyptians saw it, and so that's what happened. Pharaoh's officials took her, they praised her to Pharaoh and she was put in his palace. In Verse Sixteen, Abram was treated well for that. So he was given sheep, cattle, male and female donkeys, male and female servants and camels. But then seventeen, the Lord inflicted to serious disease on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram's wife Sarah, and Pharaoh said, what happened? Would you do? Why did you tell me she's your wife? Why? Why didn't you tell me she was your wife? Why did you say she's my sister? I could have been killed. Take your take the stuff and get out of here. At this point, Abram picks up a servant named Hagar. Okay, so Haygar is going to be an important, important figure here in Islam. Comes out of Hagar. So God had called Abram out of south Iraq or of the Chaldeans, to go to Canaan, and God was with him and he was. He promised he would bless him and he had. Abram had taken the animals and cut him in half, and God has established a covenant while he put Abram to sleep. Everything was going good. And then it's time for Abram to show some faith. Instead he he told his wife to kind of half half, tell the truth. And because of that sin, Hagar was given from the Egyptians, from the Pharaoh, to Abrams, Abrams heir, Abram's nomadic family. Sir, we are in Verse Sixty on Chapter Sixteen. Now Sarah, Abram's wife, had could not have children, but she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar. So Sarah Haygar with end up being Sarah's personal one of her personal tending attendants. So a verse two. So she said, Abraham, the Lord, has kept me from having children. Go sleep with Hagar, perhaps I can build a family through her. Well, here's Abram. Okay, so Abram went and he took a Hagar as a wife too. And then so, after Abram had lived in Kna ten years, Sarah his wife, took Sarah his wife. Sarah, his wife, took her Egyptian Slave Hagar, gave it to her husband to be his wife, and he slept with her and she conceived. Now, when she knew she was pregnant, she began to despise Sarah. So now you got Hagar, who's now looking down on Sarah because she can't have kids. Sarah said, Abram, your responsible for my suffering. Your your fault that I gave you Hagar to have relations with, and then it's your fault she's pregnant and it's her fault, your fault that she's being looking down on me for not having kids. She said, I put my slave in your arms and now that she knows she's pregnant, she despises me. May the Lord Judge, but between you and me. So Abram said, Hey, your slave is in your hands. Do with whatever you think is best. So, Sarah, I mistreated Hagar. So she fled from her and the angel of the Lord Found Hagar near a spring in the desert. It was a spring that is besides the road, sure, and he said, Hagar, slave of Sarah, I where have you come from and where are you going? I'm running from my mistress, she said. Then the angel Lord told her go back to your mistress and submit to her. The Angel added, I will increase your descendants so much they will be too numerous to count. In the angel the Lord said her, you are now pregnant. You will get birth to a son, you'll name him Ishmael, for the Lord is urgean misery. He will be a wild donkey of a man. His hand will be against everyone, everyone's hand against him. He will live in hostility, hostility towards his brothers. So she she gave this day. The Lord has spoken to her. You are the God who sees, and she said, I am now seen, the one who sees me. This is why that well, that she was biased, called Beer Lahai Roy. So heygar born Abram, son Abri again the name Ishmael. Abram was eighty six. When is when Hagar was born to Ishmael. So what do we want to get out of this? God's plan for humanity included before the foundation of the world was laid, God shows who. He would say Jesus had already died on the cross because they're outside of time, and that that sin would happen immediately after creation and Adam and eve, and then, after a looser would have already fallen, Adam and eve would eat the fruit. They were tempted and then God would call for people for himself, and then there would be this counter to his nation which would come out of Abram. But then what happens here is Ishmael and eventually Isaac are going to be they're going to be separate lines. One through Sarah I, Sarah II, Isaac, and then Ishmael through Hagar. Ish Islam tries to attach to Ishmael in that lineage. But what did God say that Ishmael would be like? Because he's not the promised one. Isaac was a promised one because Abram and Sarah, I, especially Sarah I, was impatient. She didn't wait for God to give her a baby. She tried to supervise, to supersede, to try to I'm going to I'm going to help God. I'm not going to wait because I don't have faith. I'm going to do this on my own. So I'm not going to wait to get pregnant to have a baby like promised. I'm going to take one of my servants, give it to my husband and then I can have the children to come out of her, cause she's still my servant. And when you get out of this you get Hagar, who was in the camp because of Abraham's lack of faith. She was pregnant because of Sarah's lack of faith, and but God was still faithful because he wanted Islam to exist, because it was going to be used to punish his nation for their disobedience for the hundreds of years. And we're going to see this. The Jews will end up in back in Egypt. So you can see how this cycles around. But the children of Ishmael, while donkeys of a man hand against everyone, everyone's hand against them, live in the world and hostility and towards all his brothers. So they, the Ishmael Lights, were anti Jews, anti Israel. There's a lot we can get out of this timing. We have to wait for God to accomplish his will. When we decide to try to intervene, things get messy. And then when they get messy, God is going to do what he wants. Sometimes he's going to bail us out, sometimes he's going to let us go through it, slowly, sometimes quickly. But because of because of Abraham's lack of faith and because Sarahy's lack of faith and because of God's sovereign will, Ishmael came out of this situation. My exhortation to you and me is let's not creating any haygars in our life. Let's not get ourselves in positions where, like Sarah, I I created I created this, I lied and now I have her and I don't want to wait for baby, so now I have to take her and she's a fine servant, but now a sudden I made her my husband's other wife and Nelson, I'm mad at her and she's mistreating me. So you can see how it festers when we don't we don't walk and step with the Lord in his timing. This is something I made a lot of mistakes of when I was younger. Always I was always running and then looking back, okay, God bless me, or when I stopped for a second, okay, get up here, look at a Lord bless me here, and God's like, what are you doing now? I'm not going to do that. You're going to fail, and I did. I felt a lot because I kept running ahead of God. You may have got yourself pregnant as a young girl. You may got it ended up in jail somehow, you may have had a bad marriage. You, whatever, whatever you might have experienced, and probably was because you ran on ahead of the Lord. You did it your way and what we sew is we reap what we sew right. But the cool thing is God doesn't remember. Once we're born again, they're still. They're still. Could be ramifications or what we've done, but God chooses to not remember the things we did. Like, like Paul said, this one thing I do for getting the things that are behind me. I press on the murderers and everything I did. I'm going to I forget those. He talks about in Romans, putting off those weights that that slow us down. The Genesis Sixteen, when you think of it, just think, wow, God blessed Haygar because she didn't do anything wrong. She was given over to Abram and then she was told to marry Abram and then she had a kid and then she's mistreated. But then where her mistake was? She then became arrogant once pregnant, because all of sin and fallen short. None of us are righteous. But don't let anybody try to merge Christianity and Islam, except for this, this this events here, this series of events that took a Egyptian slave, given, given as a dowry for Sarah, unknownst to the Pharaoh that she was already married. So Hagar and all the things were given from Pharaoh to Abram. Was Not even real this should not have been given to Abram, but by grace we've been saved by faith, not of our works, lest any of us should boast. We're supposed to have the mind of Christ who, being equal with God, something that he could grab onto, but he chose not to, coming to Earth, being obedient, to even to death on a cross. But because of that he is every knee, every tongue will confess a Jesus Christ as Lord. So be encouraged today. Regardless of you, what Hagar's you've created and as manifested in your life, God is still faithful to accomplish his purposes. All right, hope that's accuragement for you.
